At Copper Mountain Mining Corporation, we are committed to achieving the highest standards of mine safety and health for all our business activities. This is reflected in our Health & Safety Policy.
The safety and health of all employees and contractors is of the utmost priority to Copper Mountain’s management. Training programs, safe work procedures, site housekeeping and operational standards are enforced at Copper Mountain Mining Corporation, to ensure that all work is undertaken in a safe manner with minimal risk to employees and equipment.
Emergency preparedness remained a focus for the operation in 2017 and at year’s end there were 51 active members of the Emergency Response Teams receiving monthly training, representing 11% of the workforce. Copper Mountain also competed in the annual Mine Rescue and First Aid competitions wining first place in the Zone First Aid event. The Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee remained active during the year.
As a reflection of our commitment, Copper Mountain was awarded the Edward Prior Award for safest mid-sized mine in British Columbia from the B.C. government for three consecutive years.
